Spring — is it here yet? We’re in that period of transition — one day it’s winter, and the next the air has a hint of spring. Grinnell College, too, is beginning a period of transition, and the Spring Issue of The Grinnell Magazine looks both forward and back.
Since 1948, John Pfitsch has been making Grinnell a happier and healthier place. Andrew Walsh ’09 wrote our story, Enjoying Life: A Conversation with John Pfitsch. The Osgood Legacy: The Fourth Rebuilding of Grinnell College takes you on a tour of the Grinnell campus, focusing on the changes and improvements that have occurred during the tenure of President Russell K. Osgood. We also go beyond the bricks and mortar to examine Osgood’s academic and strategic legacy as he prepares to leave the College later this year.
We look forward as well to Grinnell’s next president, Raynard S. Kington, M.D. The announcement of Kington’s appointment as president at Herrick Chapel on Feb. 17 triggered a phenomenal outpouring of emotion and enthusiasm on campus.
